Katherine Adelufosi ARNP

Bio

Katherine received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Gerontology degree from Bethune Cookman University in 2010. She originally worked as a Progressive Care Unit Nurse, but then discovered her passion for women’s health while working in Labor and Delivery. She obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing degree with a concentration in Adult Gerontology Primary Care from Florida A & M University. While at Florida A & M University, Katherine focused her studies on sexually transmitted diseases and women’s health. She enjoys the great outdoors, especially warm beaches. Her motto in life is to “never stop chasing your dreams.”

A.H. Cinar Aksu MD FACOG

Bio

Dr. Aksu was born and raised in Turkey. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine in 1999 and completed an internship in 2000 at Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine. In 2000, Dr. Aksu served as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Yale Medical School Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. He then completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Georgia Health Sciences University (formerly the Medical College of Georgia) in 2005. From 2005 until 2011, Dr. Aksu was in private practice in Georgia. In 2013, he completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology and robotic pelvic surgery at Georgia Regents University. His special interest focuses on all aspects of geriatric gynecology, including female genital cancer, prolapse, incontinence management, and pelvic reconstructive procedures. In his spare time, Dr. Aksu enjoys playing the electric guitar, recording music, tennis, racquetball and skiing.

Mary Anderson ARNP

Bio

Mary joined our practice in June 2009 after working as a women’s health nurse practitioner in the Tampa Bay area for five years. During the past few years, she has worked in the speciality area of infertility and reproductive endocrinology.

Originally a native from the Chicago area (Elmhurst, Illinois), Mary received her BSN from the University of Portland, Portland, Oregon in 1987 and MSN from Loyola University-Chicago, Illinois in 2004. She has worked as a labor and delivery registered nurse for over ten years in various parts of the country, including Portland, Oregon, Moses Lake, Washington and Columbus, Ohio. Mary has a 13 year old son, Zachary. Her interests include beach activities, traveling, music and fishing.

Amanda Ballo ARNP

Bio

Amanda was born and raised in the Orlando area. In 2002, she moved to Tampa to start her academic career. In 2006, while pursuing her undergraduate degree, Amanda began working as a nurse’s assistant at a local women’s hospital in the postpartum unit. Then, in 2007, she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of South Florida (USF). At that time, she began working as a registered nurse on the postpartum floor. While working she continued to attend USF to pursue her graduate degree to become a nurse practitioner. Amanda received her Master of Science in Nursing in 2010. Amanda’s interest includes all aspects of women’s health. Amanda enjoys spending time with her friends, family, husband, and their new dog, Geno. She also loves going to hockey and football games.

Pamela Barany ARNP

Bio

Pam is one of the rare Native Floridians who was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. She originally received her associate of science in nursing degree from St. Petersburg Junior College, now known as St. Petersburg College in 1978. She received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of South Florida in 1994. She then completed a certificate program in Midwifery from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, now known as Frontier Nursing University, as a Certified Nurse Midwife in 2001. Her midwifery and advanced registered nurse practitioner experience includes working in a group private practice with midwives and doctors and at a community health center, where she provided antepartum, interpartum, postpartum care, as well a well-women and gynecological exams, and management of women throughout the continuum of life, from adolescence through menopause.

Irene Besser ARNP

Bio

Irene Besser joined Tampa Obstetrics in December 2012. She has 25 years of experience in women’s health care. Irene obtained her registered nurse degree from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Hartford, Connecticut, in 1977. She then worked for 10 years as an operating room registered nurse. In 1988 she attended an advanced registered nurse practitioner program at the Community General Hospital in Syracuse, New York where she earned her ARNP certificate and was awarded for her academic excellence.

After working in a private OB/GYN practice for five years, Irene then obtained her Nurse Midwifery Certificate in May 1994 from Education Program Associates in San Jose, California. She is certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives and has enjoyed many years of practice providing complete care to women of all ages and delivering babies in many areas throughout Florida. She is passionate about educating women about self-care and health promotion. Outside of work, Irene enjoys her horse Rain and competes in the Hunter ring. She lives with her cat Fred and is most proud of her son Jon, an engineer living in Savannah, Georgia, who was a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Florida.

Paula Bryant ARNP

Bio

Paula grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York and completed most of her collegiate studies in New York State. She worked at a local hospital for fifteen years in high risk obstetrics and labor and delivery. Paula moved to Maryland in 1994 to escape the cold, snowy winters in New York. After being a nurse for twenty years, Paula decided to become a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Paula enjoys working with women and educating them about their health throughout their life span.

In 2010, Paula and her family moved to Tampa, Florida for milder winters and to be closer to the beach. Paula joined our practice in 2011 after working as a Nurse Practitioner in Washington, D.C. for ten years. Paula is married, has 3 sons, a daughter and two lovely grandchildren. She enjoys the beach, zumba fitness, sports, traveling and spending time with her family.

Eric Edwards MD FACOG

Bio

Dr. Edwards joined Tampa Obstetrics in 2016. Prior to joining our practice, Dr. Edwards worked in both solo and group private practice in Central Florida for nearly 20 years. He earned both his Bachelor of Arts in Biology and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Iowa in 1986 and 1991, respectively. He then completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri in 1995. Dr. Edwards enjoys cooking, skiing, electronics-related hobbies, flying, and is a DJ entertainer when he finds the time!

Melissa Greenwood ARNP

Bio

Originally from the Brandon, Florida area, Melissa graduated from Brandon High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart. Melissa’s love for obstetrics launched a career that began as a labor and delivery registered nurse at Tampa General Hospital. Anxious to expand her career, Melissa graduated from the University of Tampa with her Masters of Science in Nursing and is certified as an adult nurse practitioner. Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 sons, ages 20, 16, and 8. She is a soccer mom who spends most of her Saturdays on the sidelines cheering on her boys. Her other hobbies include running, reading and going to the movies.

Jill Hechtman MD FACOG

Bio

Jill Hechtman, the oldest of the Levine clan, started her medical career at Ross University School of medicine in Portsmouth Dominica. After medical school she started an anesthesiology residency in Chicago at RUSH University, where she met the love of her life, Dr Jason Hechtman. They both moved to Detroit, Michigan to complete their residencies. After completing two years of Anesthesiology, Jill decided that she really desired to be an OB/GYN like her father. She transferred to Wayne State University to complete a four year residency in OB/GYN. After completion, both Jason and Jill moved to Tampa to start private practice. Jason started a private practice in general surgery and Jill took over her father’s practice.

Since moving to Tampa, Jill has become the Medical Director of Tampa Obstetrics and recently served as the Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital in Tampa. She is the past Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brandon Regional Hospital and served on the hospital’s Board of Trustees for 2 years. She is a frequent face in local media as “Dr. Jill” and currently is the obstetrics and gynecology expert for “Daytime,” a nationally syndicated talk show. Jill was also recently appointed as a member of the Florida House of Representatives Medicaid Low Income Pool Council. She is also featured in various videos about pregnancy, which can be found on this website under “Patient Education”.

Jessica King ARNP

Bio

Originally from Ohio, Jessica moved to Florida in 2003 and completed her nursing degree at St. Petersburg College. She initially worked on a medical telemetry unit for five years before transferring to infection prevention at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital. She then attended South University for her Masters of Science degree in Family Practice where she received the academic excellence award. While in her women’s health rotation, she discovered her true passion for women’s care. In her spare time Jessica enjoys fitness, spending time with her dog, and sampling all of the great food Tampa has to offer.

Paul Levine MD FACOG

Bio

A native of Tampa, Dr. Paul Robert Levine has practiced obstetrics and gynecology in the Tampa Bay community since 1978. During Dr. Levine’s career in Tampa, he has served as Chairman of OB/GYN at Brandon Regional Medical Center. His interest in perinatal care has led him to serve as Humana’s Director of Perinatal Risk Management and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Tampa Bay Academy of Hope.

Dr. Levine served as assistant clinical professor of OB/GYN at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Levine is currently President of Tampa Obstetrics, P.A. He and his wife, Susan, have three daughters (a doctor, a lawyer, an actress), and a son who is also a lawyer.

A native of Puerto Rico, Dr. José Llinás Messeguer graduated from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He attended and graduated medical school from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Dr. Llinás Messeguer then moved to Pennsylvania to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Luke’s University Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He then returned to Puerto Rico to begin his career in private practice until he moved to Florida and joined Tampa Obstetrics. In his free time, Dr. Llinás Messeguer enjoys fishing, boating, and outdoor activities.

Dr. Sobiah Mallick was born and raised in Deltona, Florida. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s of Science in Molecular and Microbiology Biology. She attended and graduated medical school from the University of South Florida. Dr. Mallick then moved to New York to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Nassau University Medical Center. During her residency, she served as Chief Administrative Resident. Juanita Moraga CNM ARNP

Bio

Juanita was born in Chile, South America and graduated from the University of Chile as a midwife and a nurse practitioner. She has practiced a full scope of midwifery in all OB/GYN settings and had her own practice prior to coming to the U.S. in 1970. She has also been a Director of Midwifery and Director of Birthing Centers in the past. Juanita joined Tampa Obstetrics/Exodus Women’s Center in January 2009 as a Nurse Practitioner.

Juanita is trilingual in Spanish, English, and French and has also earned a Bachelor in Languages from the University of Montclair. Juanita has been a guest speaker at the Annual Congress of Midwives in Chile and was also a Midwife delegate at the World Congress FIGO 2003 in Chile and has attended many of the World Congress of Midwives throughout the years.

Juanita has been a preceptor for Midwifery and Nurse Practitioner students. She has also taught Human Sexuality in colleges and child birthing classes as well. Her hobbies include classical and folklore music, singing, dancing, reading, and traveling.

Angela Orcholski ARNP

Bio

Angela was born and raised in Wisconsin. Her and her family recently moved back to Tampa Bay to enjoy its beautiful weather and Gulf waters. She started working as an RN in 2005 and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Mount Mary in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2007. With the exception of two years on a medical/surgical unit, her career has been completely focused on women’s health. Angela worked for over a decade in labor & delivery, and mom/baby in both Wisconsin and Florida. She also became certified as a bereavement counselor and worked with the Resolve Through Sharing (fetal loss) programs in the units where she worked. Angela spent many years as a military wife and while her husband was deployed for the last time, she started her journey to complete the Master of Science in Nursing degree. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2015 and became certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner thereafter. Prior to relocating to the Tampa Bay area, she worked in a private practice in Wisconsin for about two years. She is the mom of five amazing children and four dogs. She spends her free time with her husband and children. When she is not at her kids’ sporting events, Angela loves fishing, boating, the beach, cooking, eating and doing anything outdoors she can possibly find! After all the crazy years as a military family, Angela is beyond blessed to have been able to balance her passion for women’s health and the logistics of her personal life in a way that allowed her to be able to advance into a career she loves. She cannot imagine doing anything else!

Lisa Paine ARNP

Bio

Lisa joined Tampa Obstetrics in January 2017 and has been board certified in Women’s Health since 2011. She was born and raised in Baltimore County, Maryland and graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor’s in Nursing in 1999. She began her nursing career at Johns Hopkins Hospital (Bayview Campus) in high risk labor and delivery before moving to Florida in the summer of 2000. She continued her career in high risk obstetrics until 2003 when she pursued a career in critical care as a trauma ICU nurse at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. In 2005, she helped launch a post-secondary nursing program for Southeastern Schools and served as a faculty member and director of the program for 7 years. Lisa then completed her Advanced Practice Degree in Women’s Health in 2011 at Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky. She later served in public health for the Department of Health in Polk County providing prenatal care, family planning, and STI services. She loves obstetrics and reproductive healthcare. She is a member of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH) and the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP). In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and reading while spending time with her husband and daughter. Lisa is excited to continue her 17 years in nursing with Tampa Obstetrics.

Urmila Patel MD FACOG

Bio

Born in India, Urmila came to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1972 and became an American citizen. Having graduated medical school at Gandhi Medical College in India, she did her OB/GYN internship and residency in Connecticut and finished her training at St. Thomas Hospital Medical School in Akron, Ohio.

She is proud of the fact that she is one of the earliest OB/GYN laparoscopists and continues to have a passion for this area of women’s treatment. Urmila has one daughter. Her hobbies include golf, tennis, traveling, reading and family activities.

Nadia Pile MD FACOG

Bio

Dr. Nadia Pile was born and raised in New York. She graduated from the State University of New York, Stony Brook, Long Island with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She then went on to MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to complete her Master’s in Biological Sciences degree. She could not ignore her desire to serve others, so she then entered medical school at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey in Piscataway, New Jersey. Returning to New York for residency, she completed her training at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn. She proudly cared for women in Brooklyn for almost three years in private practice before relocating to Tampa, Florida. Now she enjoys being a part of the Tampa community and working with women to improve their outcomes and educate them about their health.

Bio

Susan is from Jacksonville, Florida. While working as a labor and delivery nurse for 7 years, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the University of North Florida and her Master of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Florida. She then worked as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in Jacksonville for 13 years until joining Tampa Obstetrics in November 2013. She is married and has a 10-year-old daughter and two dogs. She enjoys reading, snorkeling, and making sushi.

Angela Ramputi ARNP

Bio

Angie was born and raised in Tampa and received her Associates in Nursing Degree from Hillsborough Community College in 2005. She started her nursing career at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse and then transferred to the women’s urgent care department. While working at St. Joseph’s, she continued her education at South University in the Registered Nurse to Masters of Science in Nursing practitioner program specializing in Family Practice. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing in 2016. While away from work, Angie enjoys spending time time with her 11 year old daughter and 10 year old son.

Juliette Segree DNP ARNP FNP-BC

Bio

Born and raised in Jamaica, West Indies, Juliette moved to Lakeland, Florida in 1982. She graduated from Pensacola Junior College in 1989 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She previously worked in the Post-Surgical Gynecology Nursing, Mother-Baby, and Labor and Delivery Units at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She also served as the Clinical Perinatal Education Specialist at Lakeland Regional Medical Center for 5 years. She received both a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and a Master’s of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of South Florida in 2002. In 2016, she obtained her Doctor in Nursing Practice from Walden University. She is board certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center. Juliette has practiced in the area of women’s health in both private and a community health centers.

Sohrab Shafii MD FACOG

Bio

Dr. Shafii was born in Iran and moved to Atlanta in 1974 to begin his postgraduate training at Georgia Baptist Hospital. He later moved to Tampa in 1980 after completing his OB/GYN residency training at the University of West Virginia, Ohio Valley Medical Center Division, in Wheeling, West Virginia. After 32 years as a private OB/GYN practitioner in Tampa, Dr. Shafii joined Tampa Obstetrics, and he now focuses on office based practice. He is married and has three children and currently one granddaughter. He enjoys spending time with his family, sporting, and vacationing.

Debbie Spencer MD

Bio

Dr. Spencer joined Tampa Obstetrics in 2015. After completing her undergraduate studies at Howard University in Washington, D.C., she obtained her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Spencer started her residency and completed her internship at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed her training at Maryland General Hospital, an affiliate of the University of Maryland Medical System. Dr. Spencer’s interest include all aspects of women’s health. In her spare time, she enjoys reading mysteries and spending time with family and friends.

Adriana Suarez MD FACOG

Bio

Dr. Suarez earned her baccalaureate degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1992. She earned her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida in 1996. She completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She has been in private practice now for 15 years in the Tampa Bay Area. Dr. Suarez is a Tampa native and is very happy to be practicing in the area, as well as raising her own family in her home town. Dr. Suarez is fluent in Spanish and volunteers her time at the Judeo Christian Health Clinic. When she is not working, Dr. Suarez enjoys sailing, running and watching her kids in their various sports endeavors.

Kristi Taylor ARNP

Bio

Kristi was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky (the “Horse Capital of the World”) and has lived in other cities in Kentucky, Florida, and California. She started her nursing career in 2004 at a community hospital in Kentucky as a labor and delivery/postpartum registered nurse for 5 years, followed by positions as a circulating nurse in the operating room in California and in outpatient surgery centers in Kentucky. Kristi also worked as a registered nurse in an OB/GYN office in Kentucky, where she decided to pursue her dream of becoming an advanced nurse practitioner. She became a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner after graduating with a Master’s of Science in Nursing degree in April, 2016.

Kristi and her family moved to Tampa, Florida in June, 2017 to join Tampa Obstetrics. She takes great pride in providing compassionate care to all women and enjoys teaching and working as a team with patients on their personal healthcare goals. Her major interests include fertility, breastfeeding assistance, and well-woman care throughout the lifetime. Kristi is married with three daughters. She enjoys the beach, reading, drawing, and world travel, having travelled to Mexico, England, France, Germany, and Italy thus far.

Dr. Stephen Wagner earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Alfred University in Alfred, New York, and his Doctor of Medicine, magna cum laude, at the University of Louvain, Faculty of Medicine in Louvain, Belgium. Andrew Walter MD FACOG

Bio

Dr. Andrew Walter was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Psychology. He then decided to combine his love of travel and his passion for medicine by attending medical school in the Caribbean at The Saba University School of Medicine on the island of Saba in the Netherlands, Antilles. He then completed his OB/GYN residency at The Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After completing residency he relocated to Tampa, Florida with his wife, Dr. Nadia Pile, to join the Tampa Obstetrics team. Dr. Walter strives to continually improve women’s health and quality of medical care. He practices both Obstetrics and Gynecology and enjoys minimally invasive, laparoscopic surgery. In his spare time, Dr. Walter enjoys traveling and playing golf.

Bio

Originally from Belize, Deidra moved to the United States in 1985 and to the Tampa area in 2007. She obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from St. Petersburg College in 2012 and her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida in 2016. Deidra served as an ante-partum nurse at Tampa General Hospital from 2007 to 2016 and joined Tampa Obstetrics in 2017. She is fluent in English and Spanish and is passionate about caring for women’s health needs.

Linda Zimmerman ARNP

Bio

Originally from Long Island, New York, Linda came to the Tampa Bay area in 2002. She has thirty-nine years of varied nursing experience, including twenty years as an ob/gyn nurse practitioner. She started her nursing career at Mid Island Hospital in Bethpage, New York, where she worked in all areas of the hospital, finally settling in the emergency department for ten years. She then went to Mercy Hospital in Rockville Center, New York for four years working in the emergency department.

The time came to make a career change when she was asked to join the supervisory staff at Syosset Community Hospital in Syosset, New York working as an evening supervisor covering the labor and delivery department, intensive care unit and emergency room. It was here that she developed her passion for women’s healthcare. After finishing her Master’s Degree in Nursing, she became a board certified family nurse practitioner. She was then hired by Bethpage OB/GYN as a nurse practitioner in 1990 and worked there for eleven years.

Since coming to the Tampa Bay area, she continues to work in women’s healthcare specializing in obstetrical care, initial gynecological exams and educating woman about their health throughout the various life cycles. Linda lives with her husband Sam in Apollo Beach. She has four children, three stepchildren and fourteen grandchildren. Her youngest daughter is a Navy Corpsman stationed in San Diego. Her interests are reading, swimming, painting, boating and traveling.
